The Making of Our Excellent Eastern Canada Adventure – Part 2

It’s less than a day before our suitcases come out of the basement. Clothes are being sorted for a final wash load. The List has been printed to make sure that everything gets packed. This can only mean one thing. An Excellent Adventure is about to start.
As I write this last Making Of chapter of our Excellent Eastern Canada Adventure, I’m looking at the clock and thinking that in just about 48 from now we’ll be at the airport and waiting for our flight to take us to Halifax which will be the start of this Adventure.

Similar to Our Excellent Italian Adventure made in 2005, this trip will be made with my brother Peter and his wife Liz. I think that I’ve mentioned before that the four of us had actually been talking about this trip for about 4 years – well before the discussion of doing Italy together even started.

This Adventure will stand out for two significant reasons. The first is that other than our flights to and from Vancouver, this is a driving trip. The four of us will be spending a lot of time together over the three weeks of this vacation. On our Italy Adventure we learned that driving together has its unique challenges – especially when you get lost. We’ll have to see how that all transpires.

The second unique difference of this trip is that it will be the first time in about 30 years that I have done a three week vacation exclusively in Canada. On the surface this isn’t such a big deal but given that Barb and I have done the majority of our travel outside of North America for the past 13 years, we will be looking to experience different kinds of things than we would have in a foreign country.

My next article will be Part 1 of Our Excellent Eastern Canada Adventure two days from now.
