Sailing the South Seas – Part 1

Back to the Beginning

While I’ve been writing this travel blog for over 20 years, it wasn’t always the case, and in the early days, it was quite different. I remember in the old days, I used to have to run around trying to find Internet cafes in order to send emails to friends and family, often consuming hours and hours. We now take it for granted that every hotel and even flights have wifi.

As we’re heading off to the South Pacific, it brings back a lot of memories where Excellent Adventure first started. It was a few years after we got married, and one of our first big trips was to New Zealand and the Cook Islands, way back in 1999. While it’s been almost 27 years, we’ve never been back to anywhere in the South Seas, and we expect to see a lot of new places and a return to the Cook Islands after all these years.

The past month has been very difficult, focusing a lot on funerals, and getting away for a few weeks couldn’t have come at a better time.

We have an early morning flight leaving Vancouver today and a long day of travel ahead of us, so I expect that by the time we get to our hotel at our destination, we’ll all be looking forward to just relaxing for a while.
