We recently just came back from a trip to Waikiki on the island of Oahu<\/a>, Hawaii. We were there primarily to celebrate my Dad’s 90th birthday and several of us from Vancouver met up with my cousin and her husband who flew in from Melbourne, Austrailia to join us. In all there was 9 of us who were there and it was a lot of fun with such a big group.<\/p>\n

Two of the highlights of the trip were a luau<\/a> that we attended and a dinner cruise that we did on the night of Dad’s birthday. I was originally a bit apprehensive about the luau as Barb and I had attended one many years ago when we went to Kauai<\/a>, Hawaii and it really wasn’t a great experience but the one we all went to on Oahu (called Chief’s<\/a>) was really great and I highly recommend it.<\/p>\n

The dinner cruise was on a catamaran<\/a> type of boat which was reminicent of the cruise on a similar type of boat that we went on<\/a> Hamilton Island in Australia. This cruise in Hawaii started at our hotel and went around Waikii beach and concluded with a view of the fireworks that our hotel does on Friday nights. We ended up finishing our trip to Hawaii the next day and the fireworks was a great end to the night’s celebrations and something that all of us will remember for a long time.<\/p>\n

Barb and I have already talked about returning to Hawaii again some day and very likely we will visit one of the other islands next time. This was my third trip to Waikiki and I think that any future visits will be to experience something a bit different.<\/p>\n
