Barb and Baden’s Excellent Greek Adventure – Part 3

This will be a bit of an unusual blog update. We’ve just finished our 7-day cruise through the Greek islands. Unfortunately, my laptop and iPad were stolen from the hotel in Athens literally minutes before we were transferring to the port to start our cruise so I’m pretty restricted in blogging and have no ability to post photos until we get home.

Of course, it’s a bummer to have the stuff stolen and I still have to deal with the hotel about the insurance claim but the whole affair hasn’t affected the fun that we’re currently having in the slightest. As I mentioned before we were on a really small ship with only about 45 people and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer bunch of people with whom to cruise. The people on the cruise come from all over the world but many from Australia, New Zealand, the US, Germany, France and Italy. We seem to have been the only Canadians.

Because of the ship being so small, pretty much every day we swam off the side in the Aegean Sea and our itinerary was to visit about one to two Greek islands every day. The ship itself is fairly rustic and we all shared the same story that we deliberately picked this cruise because of the small size. Most of the staff is Greek and are all really friendly. The food on the ship is excellent.

I’m using Barb’s iPad Mini to write these notes but because of the really small screen it’s really not well suited to writing much and of course, I can’t attach any photos from my Nikon. Luckily my camera wasn’t stolen as that would have been a much bigger impact. I can survive on a trip without being able to blog but not being able to take photos. We may as well just come home. 🙂

Not sure if I’ll post anything else until we get home. I’ll post more details and of course, photos when we’re back home.

So to summarize: having tons of fun, travel lighter with a bit less technology, and still have the camera taking lots of great shots.

Until my next (and final) update.

Sorry to hear about the theft, the most important thing is that both of you are safe and having fun. Equipment can be replaced, so not to worry, think of it as only a short term annoyance. The key is to continue to enjoy!

The old story. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. Ha.Ha. Glad to hear that you are enjoying yourselves.

So sorry to hear about the lost laptop & ipad. And you are right about the camera being safe. It may not be our right arm, but at least our left! Hope the rest of your trip gets better.
