Our Excellent Italian Adventure – Part 4

It’s day 5 into our trip and I’m just overwhelmed by all the sights we have seen. I’ve never walked so much in my life but the feet are hanging in there – barely. One good thing about all this walking is all the extra wine we can drink – which is excellent by the way. We haven’t been disappointed when ordering the house red wine at any of our dinners so far. Even though we have only been in Rome for 3 full days we have done so much, it seems like we have been here forever. Of course there is still so much more to see but I don’t think we will have a chance to see it all – an excellent excuse to come back again. I think Peter and I could probably spend another week here. But our mini vacation in Rome will be over tomorrow and we are off on our second leg (or mini vacation) to Sorrento the day after. Looking forward to riding an ES train – an experience in itself.

There is so much history in Rome, it’s hard to put into words. I’ve been impressed by how easy it has been to get around the town and most people in the shops speak some English. Getting around on the underground has been very easy but very crowded. Of course having seasoned travelers such as Barb and Baden with us has been a plus. Peter had a little incident where he thought someone may have been trying to pick his pocket but he realized what may have been happening and moved away.

The weather has been fantastic – hope it follows us on our next leg of the
journey.
