A Christmas Tradition with Friends

Barb and I were saying just a few weeks ago how it wouldn’t be Christmas without seeing the annual Christmas musical at the Willingdon Church. When our friends Wendy and Kevin contacted us last week to invite us, we of course made ourselves available. Originally introduced to the yearly Christmas musical about 7 or 8 years ago by our other friends Hilda and Rob (when at the time Rob was singing in the choir), we enjoyed it so much that it has become one of the things that we look forward to during the Christmas season. Not only is the musical a top notch production but perhaps the best part of the evening is just getting together with friends during Christmas and sharing stories and food.

This year’s Christmas musical was entitled “I’ll be Home for Christmas” – set in Vancouver in the mid 1940’s. The music for the performance was done in a big band style with of course all Christmas related numbers. If it is at all possible for you to see these performances at Willingdon Church, I highly recommend them and guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.

After the musical was over, Wendy and Kevin hosted the six of us (Hilda and Rob joined us) at their place and over biscotti, cream puffs and warm drinks (and more cream puffs), we all caught up on recent events.

With a half dozen cream puffs under my arm for safe keeping, we all said our goodbyes until we get together for another evening together in the new year. Barb and I will look forward to it.
