Barb and Baden’s Excellent French Adventure – Part 1
So here we are again with a couple of hours before our flight on our next adventure. By this time tomorrow, we will have checked into our hotel in Nice in the south of France. We’ve sporting our French-English phrasebooks and other assortment of guidebooks and notes which should get us through the next two weeks in France.
If you had asked me three months ago what we would be doing in early October, I would have said that we would be going through our pictures from our trip to Italy where we would have just returned from about two weeks ago. Only days after coming home from Germany in January, Barb began the relentless effort of the planning of the trip to Italy which by brother Peter and his wife Liz planned on doing with us since the summer of last year. By January, Liz had already accumulated a good 2″ thick binder full of travel notes and for most of the year, Barb and Liz worked furiously on this.
However, what we didn’t know at the time was that almost a month to the day before leaving for Rome, Barb had to go in for surgery and we ended up having to cancel the whole trip.
So with Italy plans on hold, Barb and I looked for a “consolation trip” and in the last 4 weeks, we booked our trip to Nice and Paris.
Now I’ve got to be honest, Barb and I were both pretty bummed about not being able to go to Italy last month. But when we think about it, heading off to France right now sure has taken the edge off of that whole thing.
Stay tuned for part 2 when we arrive in the French Riviera…
