The Making of an Excellent Adventure 2005 – Part 4
I have managed to convince my sister-in-law Liz to write an article for the blog to share her perspectives on the planning aspects of the trip. Hopefully she will be a regular contributor all the way through our trip to Italy. …Baden
Baden’s comment that my enthusiasm spurs them on is great to hear, as they certainly are seasoned travellers compared to me. I enjoy travelling but have never had the chance to do something as grand as going to Italy.
After the initial frantic searches over lunch hours at work and sending emails back and forth to different people in Italy inquiring and confirming accommodation, it’s now time to sit back and wait for the day of departure.
Well let me tell you your enthusiasm starts going downhill once all the arrangements have been made. It occasionally is revived when you see an article in the newspaper or a movie with some Italian scenery
Recently at work I had a chance to view a colleague’s vacation pictures from their trip to Italy, especially the pictures from Tuscany. As you can imagine after seeing these pictures I was overwhelmed by the scenery and couldn’t believe that in just a few short months I would be visiting the exact same towns – my enthusiasm was at the top again. It was so awesome I had to dash off an email right away to Baden and Bard describing the pictures I had seen.
It’s still there but on the decline again thinking about the three months to go. Actually as I write this, it’s exactly 77 days to departure – still a daunting number.
Well it’s summer time and my husband Peter and I have a couple of mini-vacations planned which will certainly focus our attention on something other than waiting for our excellent adventure to commence.
Liz
