Sailing in Scandinavia – Part 1

Back on the Sea
It feels like a lifetime since our last cruise, but in reality, it was only eight months ago. Between that time and now, we spent a month in Australia, and even that trip feels like a distant memory. I have a theory that travelling and immediately returning to work shifts your focus to the present moment, making the past feel like it was longer ago. I’ll have to test this theory after I retire, when returning from a trip and returning to work aren’t closely connected. This also reminds me that having a detailed record of our trips on this blog and also my photos allows me to relive those memories, years into the future.
We’re both in the departure lounge as I’m writing this, and we’ll soon be boarding our flight out of Vancouver. With the time change, we’ll arrive at our destination by tomorrow, our first time anywhere in Scandinavia, and we’re excited to start this trip.
Cool Summer
Under normal circumstances, travelling in June would imply warmer weather, wearing shorts and enjoying the sun. On this cruise, we’re going to be going far north, and as a result, we’re packing warmer clothes than on a typical trip this time of year. We’re prepared for all kinds of weather, so we’ll see what kind of weather we get.
